Cone 10 Kiln Honolulu, Hawaii
60 cu/ft Cone 10 Reduction Kiln built to replace existing kiln at Hawai’i Potters Guild in Honolulu, Hawai’i. We started by rebuilding the rolling track door, then built the kiln. We used ratchet straps to hold up the existing flue, so we could build the chimney underneath from the new kiln. We used k26 soft brick for hot face, and k20 for cold face insulation. 3 layers of 6# fiber, under stucco insulates the arch. Powered by 2, 400k BTU/hr at 7” WC using Synthetic Natural Gas. Kiln fires quite full in 14-16 hours evenly to Cone 10.
